Established in 1991, AUTORE brings together pearl cultivation and jewellery design. Its work connects the origin of the pearl with the artistry of the atelier.
South Sea pearls grow within Pinctada maxima, the pearl oyster. Over more than two years, layers of nacre develop, creating depth and lustre.
The Autore Group holds Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) certification and is a proud member of the Pearl Producers Association (PPA). In Australia, a strict quota system is enforced for each pearling operator to ensure the sustainable harvest of wild silver-lipped pearl oysters, deeply prioritizing the preservation and abundance of wild oyster stocks.
To minimize the necessity of exhausting wild fishery quotas, the Autore Group places a significant strategic focus on utilizing and nurturing hatchery-bred pearl oysters.
The Autore Group's pearl farms are purposely situated in remote, pristine locations, where the untouched and nutrient-rich waters serve as our single greatest asset.
Before the Autore farms established a presence in these pristine waters, portions of our current farming sites had unfortunately been devastated and destroyed by illegal blast fishing (dynamite fishing) practices.
The Autore Group provides valuable employment opportunities in remote regional areas where securing jobs can be challenging, thereby offering additional livelihood prospects for indigenous communities.
In 2014, AUTORE established a collaborative partnership with JARI at its pearl farm on Lombok Island, Indonesia, aiming to raise and foster community awareness regarding the vital importance of environmental conservation.
